It does not currently work with XE. There is a fix coming soon that addresses this.

Hi,
Thanks a lot Kris !. With time i was really frustrated with this problem and also not getting any help either at net or friends.
Regads,
Tanveer

Tanveer,
Do you have any upgrade tips to APEX 2.0 to 4.0 on XE?
The upgrade of apex from 2.0 to 4.0 seems to go well, but there is still no change in application express as it still says version 2.10
I have run apexins with successful completion
I have run #apxldimg.sql c:/oracle and seemed to run successfully
I have run the program to change admin password.
Application express still says 2.10. As if the upgrade never happened.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Jeff

Jeff,
You will find installation steps and issues on the Apex forum.
How about opening your own thread on the Apex forum? This is the apexlistener forum.

Images are not loaded in glassfish

Hi,
I'm facing problem while deploying apex listener in glassfish 3.0.1. So far I have done
- Installed 10g XE
- Installed APEX 4.0
- Unlocked APEX_PUBLIC_USER account and reset the password
- Installed Glassfish 3.0
- Created admin and manager users
- Deployed apex.war
- Created "i" folder in C:\glassfishv3\glassfish\domains\domain1\docroot and copied images from APEX directory
- Completed listener configuration http://127.0.0.1:9090/apex/listenerConfigure
When I try to open the Apex page http://127.0.0.1:9090/apex images and css are not loaded. Already I have spent a day, went thro documentations and I couldn't figure out what I'm doing wrong. Can someone help on this please?
SK
Hello sk,
I assume, you deployed the APEX Listener to domain1.
How did you copy the images into docroot/i exactly? Is the content accessible by GlassFish? If you use Linux/Unix, you could check whether file permissions fit for the user you let execute your GlassFish. If that's not the reason: Have you copied "images" or just everything "below" images into the docroot? It should just be everything below. You could try to access a file from your "images" files directly: http://127.0.0.1:9090/i/apex_version.txt
-Udo
Thank you Udo. http://127.0.0.1:9090/i/apex_version.txt throws me hint. I have missed leading '/' during apex installation. I have changed image directory correctly and all looks good.

SKHi,
I have the same problem. But , under user "root" everything works fine, under user "oracle" images are not loaded. User oracle are owner folder where glassfish installed.
And one more problem. Apex Listener doesn't understand role Admin and user adminlistener. Every time I have recieved message : access denied.
Please, help me ((

Hi Egor,
if you can access the images with the root user, you probably copied the images as root into the GlassFishs context, so the file access rights may be different from the other GlassFish directories. You could check and or correct that (recursively).
Concerning your role/user problem: You have to create those roles and user. The username can be any, but the rolenames must match exactly (also case-sensitive) the rolenames given in the documentation.
-Udo
Hi Udo,
thanks a lot for Your answer.
I think so and give all permissions to user "oracle" , but problem not gone (
Concerning my role/user problem: I do everything exactly like it discribe in the documentation.
Can Oracle databse influence on Glassfish and Apex Listener? My database is copy of the same another database.
And yes, I'm newbie :)
UPD:
When i'm starting Glassfish under root and going on Listener Admin page on status panael i've : APEX Listener is not configured. I am lunching http://myhostname:8080/apex/listenerConfigure before that, and recieve :The APEX Listener is already configured. Please login as Administrator to access APEX Listener Administration.
Sorry for my bad english.

Hi Egor,
I don't think the database is responsible for that behaviour - if it was, the whole scenario shouldn't work when GlassFish is started by "root" either.
Unfortunately, I can't think of any reason despite a file permission problem that would explain why images etc. aren't displayed when started by the standard GlassFish-user.
As for the role-configuration, this should definetly work if you can run listenerConfigure and the roles are created and assigned to the user you plan to use. Please don't take offense if I ask that way, but did you really create that role for the right server configuration? Possibly you changed that in the default-config and it is not applied to your actual instance settings.
-Udo
Hi Udo ,
Thanks a lot for Your help.
I decided to reinstall database. Now my database is oracle 10g and apex 4.0.     Problem with image gone.
What should appear after going http://localhost:8080/apex/listenerConfigure ?? I have the same page witch appear after http://localhost:8080/apex/listenerAdmin
About my config , i do changes in server-config , file realm.
Sorry for my bad english
-Egor Karmanov
Hi Egor,
sounds good so far. listenerAdmin is basically similar to listenerConfigure but listenerConfigure is just for the first runtime configuration and can't be used again. listenerAdmin can't change db-parameters again, though you can see them.
Of course, you can change entries in your config file with any editor, but you'll need to restart the web app to let those changes take effect.

Hi Udo

apex listener with weblogic server not showing images on apex page

Hi experts.
i ve installed oracle weblogic server 3 on linux red hat 5.2. my Oracle DB Server is a Sun Solaris Sparc 9 machine with 11gR2 and apex 4.0. My requirement was to proxy the DB server so that users don't get the ip of db server directly. i created apex.war and i.war and deployed on weblogic as given in the oracle official documentation. then configured apex listener as per official documentation. BUT! when it showed me the apex in browser...........there were no images on the apex page and the login (offcourse) wont work..........there might be something wrong with i.war........plz help me how to fix this. i generated i.war using internal jar command available in solaris.
thanks in advance.
Hi,
how exactly did you create the i.war? And is your images prefix actually +/i/+ or did you chose a different one?
To check if +/i/+ is working, you could just query the resource directly, like http://your_wls_host:port/i/apex_version.txt .
Note there have been a few posts about problems, where just a small typo or copy & paste from the manual (including unintended characters) caused a problem with the i.war, e.g. {thread:id=2158886}
-Udo
thanks alot. its working. yes that other thread u referred had the complete solution. i probably did not generate the i.war correct. specifically, the dot in the end, i did not use that i remember very well. ne how........thanks alot alot alot.

is Oracle10g Express supported on Windows server 2998R2 Standard

Hi, all,
i have installed Oracle10g Express Edition on a machine with Windows Server 2008 R2 standard edition.
I have been able to import my databse which was found on another machine with Windows XP.
However, i have a problem;
I cannot connect to the new server from my application.
My application has been developed on Forms 6i.
I have tried to connect via the SQLPLUS from another pc to the new server, but in vain.
Grateful if anyone can help to solve the issue.
regards
Mas
I am sorry...it is Windows server 2008R2 Standard....and not 2998
Hi Mas,
this forum is dedicated to *11g* Express Edition Beta, so you either have a typo there as well, or you hit the wrong forum.
Anyhow, I'll try to answer you question, as this issue might as well affect the 11g XE.
Are you able to connect locally to the database, e.g. using the sqlplus on your Windows Server console?
If that works, you should check the firewall to allow connections to your database listener (default is TCP port 1521).
If it doesn't, you should check if the datase listener is working at all. First, check if the Windows Service is running. Second, check the output of the command lsnrctl status .
-Udo
Hi Udo,
Thanks for the reply....Actually its my first post to this forum. I did not notice about the 10g/11g forum.
Anyway, i have ben able to connect to the database via sqlplus from another machine. It was an error on my part. i missed something in the tnsnames.ora file.
Its fine now.. i have been able to connect via sqlplus.
However, there is still the issue of connection through my application (forms 6i).
i have read somewhere that there is a patch for forms6i to be able to connect to oracle 10g databases.
Can you help me in this matter.
regards
Masoud
Hi Masoud,
Actually its my first post to this forum. I did not notice about the 10g/11g forum. No problem. It's just that one can't be sure if it's just a typo or actually 10g. ;)
Anyway, i have ben able to connect to the database via sqlplus from another machine. It was an error on my part. i missed something in the tnsnames.ora file. Its fine now.. i have been able to connect via sqlplus.
Okay, that's good.
i have read somewhere that there is a patch for forms6i to be able to connect to oracle 10g databases.Well, now we're really out of the scope of this forum. If you have support for your Forms 6i, you could take a look into MOS (My Oracle Support, formerly known as Metalink). Perhaps you'll also find help in the appropriate forum: {forum:id=82}
Please mark this thread as answered, as it seems there is no relation to the forum topic.
Thanks,
Udo
Hi Udo,
Thanks again for the help.
Just to tell you that i have solved the problem.
Actually it was a problem with the Character set. I had to change the character set of ther server so that it matches that of the application.

apex_admin page not found

Hello.
I have a problem with apex_admin page.
We updated apex to 4.1 version and updated listener to 1.1.3.
All listener pages (status, admin, configure) are working.
We can run apex on http://hostname:port/apex
But when we try to go to apex admin page on http://hostname:port/apex/apex_admin, we get:
not found
What could be the problem?
Thanks,
Regards
What do the installation docs say the URL for the admin page is?
Hi Dejan,
are you able to login to workspace "internal"?
And did you try to use the URL with a trailing slash, e.g. http://hostname:port/apex/apex_admin/ ?
If the answers to the previous questions are negative, could you please provide some additional information on your system? Db, previous APEX and APEX Listener version, upgrade workflow you executed... And did you receive any errors during the upgrade? Perhaps you still have the installation logs at hand for a review.
In general, this doesn't sound like an issue caused by something in APEX Listener, as I know it is capable to display the admin application.
-Udo
Hello.
Thanks for your reply.
Trailing slash doesn't help.
The problem we have is, that we updated APEX to 4.1 - but updated to Runtime Environment by mistake.
So we executed apxdvins.sql script as described in installation documentation (3.8.1 Converting a Runtime Environment to a Full Development Environment).
Now we can develope application and everything works except admin page.

Dejan

Hello Dejan,
runtime would have been my first thought if you hadn't claimed /apex would work...
Anyway, it would still be interesting to know whether you're able to login to workspace 'internal'. And can you determine if it's actually the alias /apex/apex_admin that fails or perhaps some of the redirects that come afterwards, i.e. which is the concrete URL you get the 404 for? Or do you even get a different status code?

Error Error Processing Request. ORA-01403: no data found

To Whom It May Concern,
I am trying to install the APEX listener by either using WebLogic or the standalone mode, both to no avail. I went through all the installation steps with my DBA for the DB side of things and we got no error messages. When trying to configure the APEX listener either way, it's simply giving me the error in my post title once I setup my DB connection to the APEX_PUBLIC_USER schema. Has anyone ever seen this before? What is supposed to be in the APEX_PUBLIC_USER schema? When I look at mine it's empty, I see no objects, which seems a little off to me. Any help will be greatly appreciated because the documentation is pretty sparse and the error messages I'm seeing are far from insightful. One final thing to note is that the images seem to be working via the standalone mode, whereas with WebLogic it's not finding them because they're not displaying, but that's an issue I'll work on next as I'd like to first get APEX working with or without the images.
Thanks,
Josh
Hi,
I am trying to install the APEX listener by either using WebLogic or the standalone mode, both to no avail.Which version of ApexListener? The installation steps for 1.1.x are different from those for 2.0 EA.

What you see is normal. The APEX_PUBLIC_USER schema is empty.
Have you unlocked the APEX_PUBLIC_USER account?

Getting to see the Apex pages, even to configure 1.1.x , will not be possible without the images folder.
Have you seen the ApexListener log file? For WLS it is the WLS logfile itself.
Cheers,
Prabodh,
The version of APEX is 4.2 and the listener is 1.1.4.
Yes, I am able to sign-in to it using SQL*Developer.
I have not seen the ApexListener log file. Do you know which specific WLS logfile it is? One of the AdminServer logs?
Thanks,
Josh
Ok, have the images working using WebLogic now. Had to re-create the i.war file while in the base directory of the unzipped apex.zip file so the path was correct to the images.
Also, if I go into WebLogic and look at my deployed APEX.war, when I click on any of the 'Testing' tab's links, they all give me the same error as listed in this post's title.
Josh
A. Which is the HTTP Listener port on WLS where ApexListener is deployed? You have to use that port in the URL
B. Have you followed the steps outlines in the Installation Guide in About the Listener Configuration File -> Locating the Configuration File?
Cheers,
PS:
By default, the local server log file is located in the logs directory below the server instance root directory; for example, DOMAIN_NAME\servers\SERVER_NAME\logs\SERVER_NAME.log, where DOMAIN_NAME is the name of the directory in which you located the domain and SERVER_NAME the name of the server instance.
Edited by: Prabodh on Nov 28, 2012 12:17 PM
A. 7001, I am using that port
B. Yes, I've followed all the manuals. The config I am seeing is in /tmp/apex/apex-config.xml
Another question, my 'APEX_040200' and 'FLOW_FILES' schemas are currently locked, should they be that way? Could this be causing the issue?
Thanks,
Josh
Wow, I feel quite silly now. Turns out the DBA ran the run time only install script. We removed the DB install and ran the full development environment script and all is up and working.
