OCDM - Bus Matrix - Communications Data Model

Hi,
I'm trying to find the documents containing the Bus Matrix for the Oracle Communication Data Model (OCDM).
I am looking for the Bus Matrix that maps the different Dimensions to the different Facts which are used in OCDM for reporting in OBIEE.
Have been unable to locate it.
Could anyone guide me to find the same.
Thanks
Ab

This matrix is part of the documentation that is only delivered to paying customers.
It is not available otherwise.
Sorry.
Best regards,
Axel.

Oracle Communications Data Model for Windows

Hi,
Is evaluation copy of OCDM available for Windows?
Regards,
Bhavesh
Dear Bhavesh,
Unfortunately not yet. The fact that OCDM is a telco specific enterprise wide DWH, requires normally a "big" machine.
For an evaluation, I suggest you use VMWare + Linux + ODB 11gR2 with partitioning+mining+OLAP (+OCDM) options.
Beware however that you will need at least a dual core and enough disk space (10GB is the strict minimum) and memory...
The best would be to implement all this on a separate bootable Hard drive.
Hope this helps,
Regards
Axel.
Folks
Is it possible to get a version of the model to view?
Yes, this is possible: The front-end via OBIEE (default) as well as the back-end (what happens inside OCDM - as flash demo).
I suggest you contact your CGBU Sales Rep to organize for you the demonstration.
Best regards,
Axel.

Is there a way to extend jcs beyond 64 vcpu?

hi Experts, My customer expects jcs can be extended beyond 16vcpu X 4 in a cluster, is there a way to do that? Best regards
Actually, FAQs mention: "All available shapes up to eight OCPUs are supported, both general purpose and high memory configurations. " I believe, however, that it refers to self-service options. With your requirements it might be better to have a dedicated environment designed to your needs. Please, contact your local Oracle rep to help you with this.
thanks for the help!

Where can we find the logical data model of OCDM

Hi,
we are Platinum Partner.
We want now to evaluate and learn OCDM to be able to present it to our potential customers and maybe make some POCs.
To download Patch 9450986 we need some password. (We opened SR).
The documentation does not have full diagrams. (Operations Guide and Reference)
We ware not able to install sample reports to OBIEE 11g, we think it's not compatible to 11g and we will now try with 10g. We managed to convert ocmd.rpd to 11g, but have no success with installation of webcatalog.
In order to present the Fit-Gap Analysis we need the logical data model. Where can we find the „*.dmd“ or „*.dmdz“ files.
Thanks
Alen Ruvic
We sucessfully downloades patch: p9450986_1123_GENERIC
and now we have access to:
- OCDM_AllEntitiesDetails.pdf
- OCDM_LDM_Diagrams.pdf
but still it would be good if we can get the data Oracle Data Modeler files.
BR,
Alen Ruvic
Hi Alen Ruvic,
OCDM installation with the second option 'Sample Reports' does not support OBIEE11g.
It supports OBIEE10g.
You need to create dellivers folder and you should mention the path of this folder in dellivers while upgrading.
Then webcatalog will successfully get installed.
In OCDM Installation, logical data model or any related files does not exist.

Esther

Hi Esther,
thanks for your Answer.
Does patch p9450986_1123_GENERIC contain Repository and Webcatalog which are compliant with OBIEE 11g?
What is the password for ocdmdemo.rpd for the Repository provided in the patch?
We need this password to be able to install the Repository and Webcatalog.
In the documentation provided with OCDM:
Oracle® Communications Data Model Operations Guide
11g Release 1 (11.2)
Part Number E15883-02
Chapter: "2 Customizing the Oracle Communications Data Model"
In following sub chapter: "Steps: Extending the Logical Model to Support Multiple Levels for CONTENT"
It's mentioned how to perform the changes of the logical and physical model.
How one can perform this without to load the model in the Model Designer?

Alen Ruvic

Hi Alen Ruvic,
The password for ocdmdemo.rpd for the Repository provided in the patch is "Odwt123456".

Hi Alen Ruvic,
Regarding Logical Data Model,Only payed customers who are having OCDM license can have access to Logical Data Model files.
Best Regards,
Esther
Dear Alen,
Next version of OCDM coming out will fully support OBIEE11g, as shown during the demo at Mobile World Congress.
Just a bit of patience.
Best regards
Axel.
Hello Alen Ruvic,
Can I have details where did you get the two docs ..
- OCDM_AllEntitiesDetails.pdf
- OCDM_LDM_Diagrams.pdf
If you can please send it to me or give me the link to refer.
I am also concerned about the 3NF at foundation layer of OCDM , what is the need to keep the layer 3NF and how to poplulate this layer from source DB ,as source DB will be 3NF and from that we need to get the data through ETL so in this case 3nf to 3nf (means denormalisation which required while doing ETL from OLTP to OLAP is not required here .. please clarify this point if you can ....
Best Regards,
Amol
Hi Amol,
Only payed customers who are having OCDM license can have access to Logical Data Model related files.
Below are my comments on your questyion.
We need to load data from source(3NF) into OCDM entry layer(3NF) (Reference, Lookup and Base Tables). And then we need to execute the Intra ETL to load the data into Derived and Aggregate Tables(denormalization form).
Analysis is done to understand customer data to proceed with data loading on OCDM from staging. So It needs cleansed data which means no duplicates, no future data, no type errors etc. And then the Source data(3NF) is mapped to Reference/Base(3NF) directly being direct map to the OCDM entities.
Best Regards,
Esther

OCDM number of intra etl mappings

Hi, could someone tell me the number of intra etl mappings within OCDM and also could someone please tell me how to get the attributes for each table?
They are a bit more than 100 intra-ETLs in OCDM, to feed the analytical layers, including pre-built mining and OLAP cubes.
There are about 20 000 attributes for 1400+ tables.
The exact details of attributes (with description) for each OCDM table is only available to paying customers.
Best regards
Axel.
Direct answer to question.
what is exactly "paying customers" ?
A gold partner has access to this detailed information?
Sorry but no, unless you have access through a customer who bought OCDM (= paying customer), who gives you access to it (as implementers).
The only (free) alternative is having a specific "OCDM Development NDA" in place with OCDM Product Mngt (please contact Tony Velcich: Tony.Velcich#oracle.com).
If you plan to develop ETLs or further analytics on OCDM, this is what i would recommend.
I hope this helps.
Best regards
Axel.

Hardware requirements for WebCenter Sites?

Hi,
I didn't found hardware requirements/recommendations for this product.
Is there any official document somewhere?
Other opinions?
Best Regards,
Martins
There isn't a generic sizing document as such, you would be best advised to speak with your Oracle sales representative as there are very many factors involved in sizing. To give a rough indication of lowest requirements, a bare-bones single instance of Webcenter Sites (not Gadget, Community, etc) for development/testing could run on a single 32bit or 64bit core with 2gb heap, with a small application server like tomcat, and Oracle Database standard/express.
