Error: Template Registration Failed - Virtual Assembly Builder (OVAB)(Archived)

Hi there,
I currently have Oracle Virtual Assembly Builder installed on OEL5U5 and am trying to register a template that I have created. However, I keep getting an error that says:
"Template registration for capture id XXXXX for OVM platform and OEL OS has failed. Check the underlying cause".
Could anyone advise how I could troubleshoot this? Is there any error log that would contain information about this?
I have managed to introspect a WebLogic Server component on the localhost and built a template with the component. The resource manager connection is configured using port 4443 Secured connection, however I do not have a DNS setup within the network, we're using static ip addresses for each machine. I suspect that the network bridge settings could be at fault here (currently I have only specified xenbr0 as the bridge name, leaving all other fields blank), but I'm rather new to these products and am at a lost end.
Here's a stack trace from the log:

Somehow we missed to look at this thread. Pl. let us know if you still having this issue and we will be happy to help you with this.

I have the same issue, do you have any suggestion?
How did you solved the issue?

For others benefit, here is what Hongwei mentioned in a private message:
I found the reason from ovs_operation.log: The IP address in “” is wrong.
To give bit more details:
If your OVM network configuration prevents pinging OVAB machine by its hostname from the OVS machine, you have chance of running into this issue. To resolve, make sure to put following in $AB_HOME/config/deployer/ file:
useHostInURL=<ip address of ovab machine>

Unable to connect to HFM using OBIEE Admintool

Hi all, I wasn't sure whether to post this here or in the OBIEE section but I think it may make more sense to post it here since I guess it's more likely I'm missing something on this side. I've checked this post (Unable to connect to HFM using OBIEE Admintool) which is very similar to mine but doesn't really help me. I'll try to give a brief overview of my situation without making this post too long. I've a Linux 64-bit machine where I have OBIEE installed. I'm trying to establish a connection to HFM which is installed on a different machine (I don't have access to it, only have the credentials I need to access it and I also don't have any knowledge about HFM). I've followed John Goodwin's blog post (More to life...: HFM as a data source in OBIEE) that helps setting up the required components in order to establish that connection. So far, this is what I've done: I've run the EPM installer and I've installed the Financial Management ADM drivers in the following location (u03/oracle/epm/middleware - I've kept it separated from the already existing middleware home where I have OBIEE)     I've run the EPM configurator and set up a new instance named epmsystem1. I've also set up the connection to the Shared Services database.     I've edited the opmn.xml file with the changes mentioned in John's blog. Added the 2 variables EPM_ORACLE_HOME=/u03/oracle/epm/middleware/EPMSystem11R1 and EPM_ORACLE_INSTANCE=/u03/oracle/epm/middleware/user_projects/epmsystem1 and I've added the 2 jars (epm_hfm_web.jar and epm_j2se.jar) to the classpath. I've also made sure that I only have jars admimport.jar and admintegrationr.jar in MIDDLEWARE_HOME/Oracle_BI1/bifoundation/javahost/lib/obisintegraiont/adm  In OBIEE's admin tool, I'm trying to establish the connection using this connection string: but I'm getting the following error. My AdminTool is installed in a machine that isn't the same where HFM is installed.  Is there anything very obvious that I'm missing? Has anyone gone through similar steps to configure this before? Thanks,Pedro
Hi, Are you installing HFM on linux?? Can you please check the logs for the error. Thanks,Mady
Hi Mady, No, HFM is installed on a Windows machine even though I don't have access to it. What I've done, as per John blog, was installing the required drivers in the Linux machine where I have OBIEE installed and make the necessary configuration to be able to connect OBIEE to HFM.
Did you check the logs?? you configured OBIEE in Hyperion configurator? Thanks,Mady
Only after I replied did I see you edited your post. Here are the messages I'm getting in the logs. [2016-03-24T19:19:00.991+00:00] [OracleBIServerComponent] [ERROR:1] [] [] [ecid: ] [tid: 4f60]  [nQSError: 77031] Error occurs while calling remote service ADMImportService. Can you be more specific please? What I've done was what I explained in my original post and basically what is described in John's blog so I may be missing something quite obvious and that's why I posted here.

Unable to assign LDAP user to Native Directory group

I am getting the below error message anytime I try to add a user from an external LDAP directory to a Native group. We have updated the description as well as deprovision and provision the group as described in Doc ID 1619561.1 but was not able to resolve the issue in our test environment. We were however able to fix the issue in our development environment. Any help is appreciated.
What error? you did not include it in your post. Cheers John
Sorry about that. Here you go. EPMCSS-05261:Failed to get Native Group information. Error getting some of the assigned user entries. Verify user directory status and configuration.
I see that you have fixed this issue in your Dev Environment with the help of Doc ID 1619561.1 but which option helped you to fix Action Plan 1 or Action Plan 2? Also, Is the LDAP configuration is same as TEST, if no what is the difference between them? Are you able to hit/ping the LDAP Server from your DEV Environment (Shared Services Server basically) Thanks
Is there any additional information/errors in SharedServices_Security.log
action plan 2 helped us fix in our dev environment. we tried both in action plans in test and neither worked.
Just confirmed that LDAP configuration is the same between dev and test. We are also able to ping the LDAP server from DEV and test. Additionally, we can see all the users in the external directory, however when we save them to the Native Directory group, it errors out or it just doesn't save the LDAP users. JohnGoodwin, nothing new in the logs from what I have found. The last date from the log was on Feb 8.
Please share your Hyperion Version. Have you got chance to recycle the service of Foundation Services? Thanks.
We are on Yes, we recycle the services when we first encountered the issue but that did not resolve it.
Have you reviewed Shared services error post?
What is the search order for LDAP and Native directory (in development vs. test environment)? You could check it in Shared services --> Configure User Directories Try making Native first in the list if not already so and then restart the foundation service and then recheck. Thanks,SP
We made the Native directory first and LDAP last, restarted the services. We are still experiencing the issue.
Working with Oracle Support, they found the following in our log files:  -- Summary of Errors --  [2016-04-27T15:10:50.814-04:00] [FoundationServices0] [TRACE:16] [] [oracle.EPMCSS.CSS] [tid: 14] [userId: <anonymous>] [ecid: 0000LHP8Mk4FO9xqw8Jb6G1N8Gun000000,1:18743] [APP: SHAREDSERVICES#] [SRC_CLASS: com.hyperion.css.spi.impl.ldap.LDAPProvider] [SRC_METHOD: getUsersByIdentities] THROW[[ Unbalanced parenthesis; remaining name ''  EPMCSS-00346: Failed to authenticate user using security agent. Error getting username, password from HTTP Request.  EPMCSS-00383: Failed to authenticate user using security agent. Missing username in the request header HTTP_USERNAME. Verify security agent configuration.. Verify security agent configuration.   We then went into the external directory and edited its properties. Went to the LDAP User Configuration tab and under Advanced Options, there is an option to Filter to Limit Users. The syntax was inputted incorrectly as there was a colon in front of the filter string. The colon was removed and we were able to assign LDAP users to Native groups.
Good to see that you have provided completed details. However, you could match all the configuration setup with your Development Environment to find out this cause. Thanks.

 Doesn't sound like it was

Active Directory Source in Id Sync

after installing Id Sync, I am creating AD source.
In the very first step, I receive an error when pointing the windows global catalog:
cannot verify credentials for host DC1:3268 due to an error while trying to establish a connection to the host.
Could you please advise?
Were you ever able to resolve this issue? While saving the configuration, it gives me the error "unable to bind to host" and does not save the configuration either.
Also, I did not install the Proxy server. Is it required or optional?
I am having the same issue and cannot seem to proceed beyond this.
Please note that there are users posts at the end of the article where they are asking the author for assistance with their Solaris/AD setup.

Registering assembly template failed

When trying to register a built assembly template with OVAB studio, I am getting the following error message:
Registering wlsasm1 to DefaultConnection::serverpool1 started.
Connecting to DefaultConnection::serverpool1 for register operation.
Register wlsasm1 to DefaultConnection::serverpool1 failed!
CAUSE: Error occurred while getting the pool template manager
Registering of wlsasm1 to DefaultConnection::serverpool1 failed.
I wonder what that is supposed to mean.
It could mean few different things but in some cases it could mean OVM Manager is unable to communicate with OVS machine. Can you tell if you see bit more details in OVAB log file ($AB_INSTANCE/logs/assemblybuilder.log, on OVAB machine) and also in OVS agent log files (/var/log/ovs-agent/ovs_operation.log and ovs-agent.log, on OVS machine)?

Error accessing the EPMA, the Workspace. Hyperion version

Dear, ERROR when trying to access the library of dimensions in the workspace Invalid or missing service. The Verify that the Dimension Server is running and configured Correctly in the system registry. Code: com.hyperion.awb.web.common.DimensionServiceException Description: An error occurred processing the result from the server. Actor: none http:// <epma machine>: 19091/awb / Loading the module 'awb.appcontainer' failed. Can someone help me! /? Since now, thank you.                 .
Have you searched Oracle support for the error and searched the internet as there are a number of possible solutions available. Cheers John
Hi John Yes. Have run the EPMA_database_cleanup_utility; start and stop; No avail. Apparently there is no problem in the Net. Nor the the network configuration compared to IPV4 and IPV6. Is there any other procedure we can do? Thank you.
Have you restarted EPMA Service ? Has anything been changed or patched ? if nothing has been applied or changed, try firewall setting of your EPMA Windows Server. ThanksAmith
Hi, I already restartei service. The environment has not changed. I'm checking your suggestion on the firewall. Thanks
Hi, Thanks for responding. Firewall is off. I ran the diagnostics and found the following error in EPMA Server: "Error: Dimension server was not found in Shared Services Registry. Recommended Action: ** PlaceHolder-do-not-translate ** "Any idea what it could be and a possible fix? Since, many thanks!
I guess you need to re-configure your EPMA with Foundation Services . Better have checked with Oracle or experts before getting into. ThanksAmith
When you start the dimension server are there any errors being written to the windows event logs. Cheers John
Hi John. Following the share of logs generated: Log EPMA DimensionServer.log: EPMADIM] [INTERNAL_ERROR: 32] [EPMADIM-1] [EPMADIM.Hyperion.DataAccessLayerCore.CommandWrapper] [tid: EPMA Server Startup] [ecid: disabled, 0] Exception occurred in the DAL. Error Message: "ORA-00001: unique constraint (PAN2_EPM_EPMA.PK_PROPMBRARR) violated '.  The  Event View generated Warning and information about EPM sever  Also ran the diagnostic utility of EPM System and got this failure: FAILED DSC: EPMA DimensionServer Server Configuration Validating EPMA Dimension Server startup ... failed ... Error: Dimension server was not found in Shared Services Registry. Recommended Action: ** PlaceHolder-do-not-translate ** Awaiting his return, thanking already!
Make sure You have supported Oracle Client installed and you can access oracle database from the EPM server from SQL\SQL Developer. Also, make sure TNSfile has all the needed information, may be your database aint running.
Hello to all! Unable to work after the reset (Dimsension Server) database EPMA, using the configuration utility. I want to thank everyone who helped us! Regards
Hi, Not sure if this has been answered correctly as this post is not marked. If not, try below steps one after another: 1. Recycle the EPM System following the Services Stop/Start order.2. For Version and later- Run the EPMA database clean up utility.Note: This utility deletes transactions from the database. You must be extremely careful and ensure that you have performed a full backup of the EPMA database before running this Utility. After taking the EPMA relational database backup perform the below steps:a) Stop the EPMA Process Manager serviceb)  Run the EPMA_database_cleanup_utility.   Location: <EPM_ORACLE_INSTANCE>products\Foundation\BPMA\AppServer\DimensionServer\ServerEngine\bin. Thanks!
